Roy Keane has shared his verdict on Ange Postecoglou after his winless start in charge of Nottingham Forest.
The 2-0 loss against Newcastle United heading into the international break continued Ange’s winless start to life at the City Ground since succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo.
While the clash at St James’ Park was rife in controversy regarding the decision to allow Bruno Guimaraes’ goal after the Brazilian collided with Morgan Gibbs-White in the build-up, Nick Woltemade ensured the hosts would take the three points.
Ange is under immense pressure, only seven matches into his tenure at the City Ground, with his side lying 17th in the league table, just one point clear of the relegation zone.

And as speculation is rife surrounding the Australian’s future, ex-Forest man Roy Keane has revealed how much time he believes the club should give the manager before considering termination.
Ange Postecoglou may not last a year at Nottingham Forest
When discussing the situation at Nottingham Forest on the Stick To Football podcast, Keane doesn’t think Ange will last until the end of the season if his side’s torrid form continues.
“I don’t know about a season (if Ange should get that long). A season long, if you’re like teams who are panicking always, particularly for like, just say, for example, Forest couldn’t get away from the bottom and they’re panicking about relegation. The year is, I don’t think you should be guaranteed a year.
“But obviously, seven games is not right either, is it?”
Although the Manchester United legend believes now is far too early to consider sacking Ange, the possibility is becoming more of a reality with each passing match.
TBR Football understands Evangelos Marinakis is considering Postecoglou’s future and have identified Fulham boss Marco Silva as a potential replacement.
Forest fans were furious Nuno was sacked after the now West Ham boss guided the club back to European football last season, but his deteriorating relationship with Marinakis led to the owner appointing a manager with whom he has a strong connection.
However, the bond between the pair may not be enough to save the manager as Ange must return to winning ways immediately following the international break, with Chelsea and Bournemouth up next in the Premier League.
Ange Postecoglou needs time at Nottingham Forest
While the performances this year are a stark contrast to the Forest side, which emerged as the surprise package in the Premier League last season, their current woes are no easy fix.
Chris Sutton accused Forest fans of acting “entitled” as chants calling for Ange to be sacked rang out at the City Ground. The pundit’s opinion may be extreme, but he does have a point – it is far too early to consider moving on from the manager.
Although his efforts with Tottenham in the Premier League were disastrous by all accounts, he did win the Europa League, and his presence in the dugout gives Forest a real chance of competing in the competition this year.
Indeed, Ange must start winning games to ease the growing pressure on his shoulders, but he has inherited a side used to playing a certain brand of football; it will take time for him to implement his ideas at Forest, and he should be given the chance to do so.
