Following defeat to Newcastle United, Ange Postecoglou’s job is now under serious threat at Nottingham Forest.
Ange Postecoglou is without a win in his first seven games in charge of Nottingham Forest, and five of those matches have ended in defeat.
It’s been a difficult start for the former Tottenham Hotspur manager at the City Ground, and TBR Football understands that Forest are already considering alternatives to Postecoglou.
Whether Postecoglou survives the international break remains to be seen, but Forest’s fixtures don’t exactly get any easier afterwards.
As things stand, Forest are 17th in the Premier League table, precariously positioned ahead of Burnley, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Stuart Pearce discusses Ange Postecoglou’s job being under threat at Forest
That being said, Forest legend Stuart Pearce has now discussed Postecoglou’s situation at Forest.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, Pearce seemed to believe that the former Spurs boss deserved more time, citing the difficult task he was handed.

Initially discussing Evangelos Marinakis’ managerial decisions in the past, Pearce said: “There was a bit of angst with the decision with Nuno, there’s no doubt about that.
“Prior to that, obviously Steve Cooper being fired from his job. I think a few of the fans were disappointed in that, and I’ve got to say on both counts, I was as well.
“But the owner, when you look back on certainly the Steve Cooper one, you might say well hang on a minute, Nuno did a slightly better job, he’s chasing silverware the owner, maybe that’s his philosophy there.
“But what I would say definitely, Ange has gone in under a little bit of pressure, I think some of the booing midweek was aimed just as much maybe at the decision about Nuno, than it was Ange.
“I was at the game yesterday, I didn’t think the performance was a performance of a poor team who are not trying for their manager.
“Personally I thought they grafted well, they’re just lacking a bit of cutting edge now.”
Who could actually replace Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest?
Clearly, Postecoglou does deserve more time at the City Ground, seven games isn’t enough to judge any manager, especially when they arrive during the season.
But in terms of the names linked with the job, perhaps they explain why Marinakis should stick with his current man.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 15 | 7 | 2 | 2 | 3 | 7 | 11 | -4 | 8 | |
| 16 | 7 | 2 | 1 | 4 | 9 | 12 | -3 | 7 | |
| 17 | 7 | 1 | 2 | 4 | 5 | 12 | -7 | 5 | |
| 18 | 7 | 1 | 1 | 5 | 7 | 15 | -8 | 4 | |
| 19 | 7 | 1 | 1 | 5 | 6 | 16 | -10 | 4 |
Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers, Sean Dyche, Graham Potter and Frank Lampard are all names being linked.
And with the greatest of respect, they might not be candidates worth all the upheaval of sacking another Forest manager.
Of course, if results don’t improve before the November international break then the situation could change entirely.
And perhaps Postecoglou might even need a strong result against Chelsea in order to reach that point.
