Nottingham Forest fans have a clear message for Evangelos Marinakis after he sacks Nuno Espirito Santo

Nottingham Forest fans have been left in disbelief after Nuno Espirito Santo was relieved of his duties at the club just three games into the new Premier League campaign.

Nottingham Forest claimed the decision was made following recent circumstances, but there has been no further comment on the reason behind his sacking.

The Portuguese coach has been in an uncertain position for several weeks after publicly admitting that his relationship with club owner Evangelos Marinakis had deteriorated.

Despite Santo’s success on the field, situations behind the scenes have evidently reached a breaking point recently.

It is a dramatic turnaround, given that Santo signed a new Nottingham Forest contract in the summer, which had extended his stay at the club until 2028.

Santo departs the City Ground with the club 10th in the Premier League after one win, a draw, and a defeat in the opening three matches this season.

Nottingham Forest fans believe it’s a ‘disgrace’ to sack Nuno Espirito Santo

During his time in charge, Santo kept Nottingham Forest afloat in the Premier League during the 2023-24 campaign, following a four-point deduction, and then gained their highest finish in 30 years.

He also won the Premier League Manager of the Month award three times and guided them to Europa League football, which is why fans are angry that he has been sacked.

One supporter was quick to call out the club, labeling this “the worst decision ever,” demonstrating that they don’t agree with the situation.

Another claimed that they deserve better than this “clown circus” as the tension against the ownership has started to build after the decision.

One fan stated, “This is what happens when you try to go against the owner. In this age, you have to just nod your head and do your work; otherwise, however good you are, you will be sacked.”

Meanwhile, a different fan said that the sacking is “utter, utter madness,” as another stated that it’s a “disgrace.” The general consensus has become one of surprise and disappointment from fans.

Nottingham Forest could turn to Ange Postecoglou

While Santo’s firing is a disappointing decision for Nottingham Forest fans at the moment, the attention will immediately turn to who will replace him.

The club is embarking on one of the biggest seasons in its illustrious history; therefore, it will be crucial to replace Santo immediately with someone talented enough to take them forward.

TBR Football previously revealed that Marinakis has been considering Ange Postecoglou as the next man to take charge of Nottingham Forest, which would bring the Australian straight back into the game.

Postecoglou parted ways with Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last season, despite guiding Spurs to the Europa League at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Meanwhile, Santo has admirers in Saudi Arabia, which could allow him to immediately get back to working in the game if he wishes.
