Gleison Bremer has long been linked with a move to Tottenham, and if CalcioMercato.it is to be believed, Spurs are now very serious about signing him.

Antonio Conte has well and truly transformed the club. They pipped Arsenal to fourth place last season, and if Daniel Levy backs the Italian, they could really become a force in the very near future.

Spurs just announced the signing of Ivan Perisic, which makes them stronger than they were at the end of last campaign. Now, the focus seems to be on central defence, and they have been linked with quite a few players.

From Alessandro Bastoni to Josko Gvardiol, they are rumoured to be interested in plenty of names already, but Torino star Bremer may well be the one who gets the nod.

Tottenham are ready to pay £42m for Gleison Bremer

Bremer has been linked with a move to Spurs since before the January transfer window. The Brazilian, still only 25, has had a sensational campaign in the Serie A and has earned great praise from almost everyone who has watched him.

Tottenham are looking for an upgrade over Ben Davies at left centre-half. The Welshman has done a phenomenal job there, but for Spurs to go to the next level, they need someone better.

Bremer could well be that man, and the report claims that Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte could launch a ‘serious assault’ to sign him before the start of next season.

The report further claims that Tottenham are ready to invest £42 million to sign him.

TBR View:

Tottenham should ideally be looking at a left-footed centre-half to take over from Davies at left centre-back, and the likes of Bastoni and Gvardiol are excellent options.

However, Bremer is fantastic as well, and even though he’s right-footed, he has proven at Torino this season that he’s more than capable of playing on the left side of a back three.

Bastoni and Gvardiol are certainly the more exciting names for Tottenham fans, but their price tags are big too.

£42 million for Bremer is not cheap either, but the South American’s all-round ability may well make him worth the big bucks this summer.
