Report: 'Phenomenal' player is unhappy at current club, just eight days after Tottenham transfer links
Only eight days ago, Manchester Evening News revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Hugo Lloris is Spurs’ undisputed number one at the moment. The French World Cup winner is one of Tottenham’s most important players, but he has entered the final six months of his contract.
Spurs would ideally like to keep hold of him, but he is attracting interest from his home country. Ligue 1 side Nice are keen to sign him and if rumours are to be believed, he’s interested too.
Conte will need a new goalkeeper, even if Lloris ends up staying, and Henderson has reportedly been considered as an option at the end of this season.
Tottenham-linked Dean Henderson is now unhappy at Manchester United
MEN revealed that Manchester United have ruled out a loan move for Henderson this month, which means that he has no choice but to wait until the end of the season.
According to The Daily Mail, the 24-year-old, along with a few of his teammates, is unhappy at Old Trafford at the moment. He is desperate for regular game time, but David de Gea has made the number one shirt his own.
Henderson, labelled as ‘phenomenal‘ by Jose Mourinho, has played just twice for the senior side all season and he was even substituted after 68 minutes in one of those appearances. It’s clear he has no future at Manchester United, and that could open the door for Spurs to make a move for him.
Should Spurs sign Henderson?
Tottenham may not just need one goalkeeper at the end of this season, they might have to invest in two.
Lloris could well walk away for free in the summer and rumour has it that Conte and co aren’t really convinced by Pierluigi Gollini, who is currently on loan from Serie A side Atalanta.
If both Lloris and Gollini were to leave the club, Spurs will have to sign two new goalkeepers. Henderson would be a great shout for one of the positions, but whether he will be the first choice is anyone’s guess.
It will be interesting to see what will happen between the sticks at Tottenham at the end of this season.
