Since Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte reunited at Tottenham, Spurs have been linked with a whole host of Serie A players, including Torino star Gleison Bremer.

The Brazilian has had an outstanding season in Turin. He has played 18 games for Torino in the Serie A and his performances have attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs over the last month.

Tottenham are one such club reportedly keen on his services. TuttoSport revealed just a few days after Conte joined Spurs that he’s interested in signing Bremer in January.

Sadly for the Italian, it looks like his former club are set to win the race for him.

Calcio Mercato revealed yesterday that Inter Milan are now leading the race to sign Bremer this month.

The Nerazzurri’s chief Giuseppe Marotta has a great relationship with his Torino counterpart Urbano Cairo, and that is one of the biggest reasons why Conte, Paratici and Tottenham are set to miss out on the talented Brazilian defender.

The report claims that a draft agreement has been sent over by Inter Milan to Bremer’s entourage ahead of a potential move. The transfer isn’t official just yet, but the Italian outlet leads us to believe that it’s just a matter of time.

Blow for Spurs?

Tottenham need a new central defender who is capable of slotting in Conte’s three-at-the-back system. Bremer, 24, would’ve been a perfect option for Spurs after how well he has played this season.

Italian outlet Tuttosport labelled the Brazilian as ‘the best defender in all of Serie A’ back in November. That is immense praise for someone who is competing with the likes of Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Stefan de Vrij for the very same title.

It’s not necessarily a blow for Tottenham, but Bremer is definitely someone who could’ve been a great player for them. It will be interesting to see who Conte and Paratici will go after now as Spurs really do need a new central defender by the end of this month.
