TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has claimed that Antonio Conte “isn’t convinced” by Tottenham goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini. The on-loan Italian has a permanent clause, but Conte’s stance might not see said clause activated.
Gollini, 26, has been forced to watch from the sidelines for the majority of the season so far. Indeed, he has only been afforded eight appearances in all competitions since arriving at the club from Serie A side Atalanta on loan.
Spurs are now out of the Europa Conference League due to a forfeited 3-0 defeat to Rennes. Gollini’s chances of game time are now going to reduce even further. He has kept just two clean sheets in his eight games.
Eurosport claim that Gollini has a permanent clause worth £13million at Tottenham. It is unclear if that clause is made permanent relating to appearances made. Spurs do also have the option to extend the loan by another season.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, though, Crook suggested he could return to Atalanta: “I know Conte isn’t convinced by Gollini. I don’t think they will be taking up the option to make that permanent.”
Crook on Gollini: What is best move for Tottenham, amid Conte stance?
Tottenham need a goalkeeper that can act as cover for Hugo Lloris – one that is happy to do so. Gollini looks more than willing to play second fiddle to the France and Spurs skipper. Lloris remains of contract in the summer.
He is not good enough to be first choice – but he might grow into the role. Is he worth £13million? Probably not, but the option of a second loan might give Spurs and Gollini the chance for the latter to prove his worth.
