Report: Manchester City trying to accelerate sale of Porro

Manchester City are trying to accelerate the sale of Pedro Porro to Sporting Lisbon.

What’s the story?

According to Record, the Citizens are urging the Lions to take up their option to buy the defender early. Sporting signed the 21-year-old on a two-year loan deal with the option to purchase for just €8.5m (£7.2m) last summer.

The Liga NOS side are in a partnership with the Premier League champions and, as a result, are open to the idea. But the Portuguese side don’t want to start paying for the ace until next year.

City have been trying to sign Harry Kane and Jack Grealish this summer, but they have to raise funds through sales.

The Spaniard has claimed he has never spoken to Pep Guardiola.

Every little sale would help

Every little sale can help Manchester City in their bid to undergo a summer splurge amid news about Porro.

It is clear to see a host of players don’t have a future at the club and can be valuable assets this summer.

Youngsters like Ivan Ilic, Lukas Nmecha and Yangel Herrera are all in similar situations. They act as perfect players to raise some cash for the northwest giants.

It is no different for the Spanish youth international, who enjoyed a great time last season.

Porro helped Sporting end their 19-year wait for a league title. He is obviously a key part of the Portuguese side’s plan moving forward and thus an early sale would make a lot of sense.

Kane and Grealish are proving an expensive outlay this summer, and thus every little will help Guardiola’s side.
