Report: Manchester City move for Jack Grealish at an 'advanced stage'
A move for Aston Villa ace Jack Grealish to Manchester City is allegedly at an ‘advanced stage’.
What’s the story?
According to The Athletic, the play-maker is closing in on a transfer to the Etihad Stadium.
The report claims that Pep Guardiola will primarily use the ‘outstanding‘ midfielder in the number eight role.
He would challenge for the position alongside Ilkay Gundogan. It is a boost for the ace, who prefers to play centrally as opposed to out on the left.
Meanwhile, the Citizens expect Bernardo Silva to leave the club this summer.
City see Grealish as more of a midfielder as opposed to an attacker, claims The Athletic.
Signs Grealish will be used alongside de Bruyne
Everything is pointing towards Grealish being used alongside Kevin de Bruyne at Manchester City as a deal reaches advanced stages.
The feeling may have been that the Englishman would act as a back-up/competition for the Belgian wizard.
However, a deeper role means the two players can fit into the starting XI next season.
And what a prospect it proves to be.
The move will leave almost every Citizens fan salivating at the mouth.
Creativity and attacking threat would not be a problem for Guardiola’s men. Not that it ever has been since his arrival in 2016.
Grealish’s dribbling ability coupled with de Bruyne’s final ball is a dream combination.
After securing their fifth league title last season, it seems the northwest giants could be on their way to another.
