Report: 'Amazing' Tottenham target won't be allowed to leave in January, club will only sell next summer
Tottenham Hotspur are less than two weeks away from restarting their Premier League campaign after the World Cup.
Antonio Conte’s side are already preparing for their trip to Brentford on Boxing Day evening.
The mid-season break came at a good time for Tottenham, as their form was starting to waver.
Conte spent the start of the season trying to decide should fill his right wing-back position.
Emerson Royal was first choice before the World Cup, but his performances weren’t convincing.
Matt Doherty’s game time was limited, but he at least was given opportunities, unlike Djed Spence.
However, rumours of Conte still wanting to recruit a right-back haven’t gone away.
CalcioMercato now believe that Tottenham target Denzel Dumfries will not leave Inter Milan in January.
The Italian side could be open to selling him next summer, if the price is right.
Dumfries will not leave Inter in January
The report suggests that Beppe Marotta and Simone Inzaghi will not let the Dutchman go this winter.
He could be allowed to leave next summer, but Inter expect a fee of around £50m.
The ‘amazing’ defender has been linked with Spurs for some time.
CalcioMercato have previously said that Spurs wanted to negotiate a swap deal between Dumfries and Emerson Royal.
However, it seems as though Inter are now much more keen to simply sell the 26-year-old.
Dumfries starred for the Netherlands before they were eliminated from the World Cup by Argentina.
He received a perfect rating for his performance against the USA that would have certainly impressed his suitors.
Arsenal have also been linked with Dumfries, but similarly had a swap deal turned down.
Although Inter seem set to eventually let Dumfries leave, his international form could earn him a second chance with the Serie A side.
Conte won’t be too upset if that’s not the case though, as he looks to continue raiding Italy to improve his Tottenham squad.
