‘Perfect’: National media rave about £26m Tottenham target with 10/10 rating at the World Cup today

Denzel Dumfries gave a full-back performance for the ages today as the Netherlands saw off USA in their last 16 clash at the World Cup.

Dumfries was in inspired form as he created two goals before scoring the third himself. The goal capped off a superb display from the Inter Milan star, who has been great for the whole tournament really.

Of course, Dumfries catching the eye is good news for Tottenham. Antonio Conte is thought to be a big admirer of the Dutchman, with Tuttosport claiming Conte would love to sign Dumfries.

And today against the USA, the Netherlands ace showed just why Conte wants him. So much so, that the Dutch media gave him a 10/10 rating for his ‘perfect’ performance.

“What a performance from the right-back, who provided two assists and scored the third. Did everything right and also made a last-ditch clearance off the line. Perfect full-back performance,” Football Oranje wrote.

English media outlet The Guardian was also impressed with Dumfries. And while they avoided a 10, he was given a 9/10 with a glowing reference alongside.

“The most dangerous player on the pitch. Was alert to sniff danger and set up two goals before volleying in.”

Wow. What a performance this was from Denzel Dumfries. A performance of sheer class with the added bonus of direct assists and a goal to boot.

For Tottenham fans watching on, it must have been like being teased at what might be to come under Conte.

At the moment, Spurs fans have to watch Emerson Royal at wing-back. Dumfries showed the Brazilian how it’s done today really, and it surely only encourages Tottenham to act quickly.

The idea of Dumfries on the right and Sessegnon down the left is something the Spurs fans can get on board with.
