'Big money or nothing': Arsenal can't sign 'brilliant' player by offering Tomiyasu in swap deal - Romano

Arsenal have been told that they will not land Denzel Dumfries by offering to include Takehiro Tomiyasu in a swap deal, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners are eyeing the player who starred at the World Cup with Holland.

Dumfries is set to be a man in demand. He’s wanted by Chelsea, whilst Tottenham are also thought to be monitoring the situation closely too.

The talented Inter star played in every game for Holland at the World Cup. Sadly for any interested parties, the player is happy at Inter and it will take a huge offer for them to consider a sale.

Reports claimed that Arsenal were considering a swap deal. They had earmarked Takehiro Tomiyasu as a player who they might include in an attempt to sweeten any deal for Dumfries.

Romano has claimed that won’t be acceptable, however. He’s dismissed that notion and said that Inter are pretty relaxed over the situation.

He told Caught Offside: “Inter Milan are not looking for swap deals for Denzel Dumfries, as things stand. Big money or nothing, this is their stance – and the absolute priority is to keep Dumfries at least until the end of the season.

“So, despite some talk of the interest from Arsenal and a swap deal involving Takehiro Tomiyasu, I don’t think Arsenal will invest big money there.”

Arsenal won’t be able to swap Tomiyasu for Dumfries

The Holland international was bang in form at the World Cup. Micah Richards called him ‘brilliant’ when analysing the player as part of BBC’s live coverage of a Holland game.

Now, he will be wanted by several clubs. Signing him will prove problematic though, with Inter extremely keen to keep hold of the 26-year-old.

Arsenal would perhaps be wise to not let Tomiyasu go either. He’s been largely useful since arriving at the club and is at an age where he could still improve.

The Gunners could do with a new right-back, however. Ben White has been the first-choice option this season and he’s more at home playing as a right-back.

Signing Dumfries might have to wait for Arsenal though. It seems unlikely they will spend a huge sum on a new right-back and instead they might stick with what they have.
