‘Useless’: TalkSPORT pundit absolutely slams £25m Tottenham player

Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Tottenham defender Emerson Royal as being ‘useless’ in a rant about the Spurs man on TalKSPORT.

Royal was once again given a spot in the starting XI as Tottenham lost to Liverpool today. However, he was taken off again as well, as the Reds came into North London and won 2-1 thanks to a Mo Salah double.

The Brazilian has been under the microscope more than once this season. And speaking just before today’s Tottenham v Liverpool clash, former Villa striker Agbonlahor branded him as useless, along with Wolves’ Nelson Semedo.

“I don’t know who’s worse, Semedo or Emerson Royal. I think they’re like twins. They’re both useless,” Agbonlahor said on TalkSPORT.

“You’re telling me Emerson Royal is a good player? Him and Semedo. Did you see him give it the eyes and kick it out of play? Please tell me you did. No look pass and out of play, that’s useless to me.”

Royal has been used by Tottenham this year a lot. Antonio Conte seems to have put his trust in the right wing-back.

However, today, just like on other days, he left a lot to be desired when going forward. Royal, then, will more than likely come in for more criticism in the coming hours.

TBR’s View: Harsh words on Emerson Royal

The guys over on TalkSPORT are never scared to use the heavier language and that looks to be the case here.

Sure, Emerson Royal isn’t the best player in the world. But he’s not useless and this seems a harsh statement from Agbonlahor really.

Ex pros can have a say but sometimes, they cross the line. That seems to be the case here. Royal is still a professional footballer at a top four club. He can hardly be ‘useless’ then as Agbonlahor says.
