Journalist has fresh update on Dele Alli's chances of joining Newcastle

Sky reporter Michael Bridge has told The Last Word on Spurs podcast that he has heard that Tottenham Hotspur are not too keen to deal with Newcastle United amid reports linking the Magpies with a potential move for Dele Alli.

Dele is one player who may be a little nervous as the January transfer window deadline approaches. He has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte. The Italian has become the latest Spurs boss to seemingly struggle to find a way to get the best out of the 25-year-old.

He has been linked with a host of sides, including Borussia Dortmund. However, as things stand, Dele is set to remain at Tottenham for the second-half of the season.

It was suggested that Spurs expect Newcastle to make a bid for Dele. And with the Magpies reportedly struggling to agree a deal for Jesse Lingard, some may have assumed that the likelihood of an offer coming in for the attacking midfielder had increased.

However, Bridge has claimed that Newcastle are yet to make any sort of move for Dele. Interestingly, he added that Tottenham may be reluctant to do business with Eddie Howe’s men anyway.

“I’m told there’s no real great interest in Dele at the moment,” he told The Last Word on Spurs podcast.

“What about Newcastle?

“I don’t think Tottenham are too keen to deal with Newcastle, that’s from little bits that I’ve heard. At the moment there is no concrete interest in Dele Alli.”

Tottenham face Dele Alli dilemma if Newcastle register interest

Tottenham will surely hope a club makes a good bid for Dele before the window closes. It is doing no-one any favours if the England international is stuck completely out of the fold North London.

Having said that, letting Dele join Newcastle is also risky. Tottenham know how good he can be. And there have been glimpses. He was lauded for a display against Liverpool in December.

Newcastle clearly have huge potential should they stay up this season. So Tottenham may be wary of loaning them Dele this month.

The worst case scenario for Daniel Levy would surely be Dele moving to Newcastle and finding his best form with the money they have to spend in the months ahead.
