Newcastle United’s performances have surprised an awful lot of people this season.

The Magpies currently sit in the top four of the Premier League, and will be looking to maintain that position going into the World Cup break.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, Simon Jordan has spoken about Newcastle’s start to the season.

The former Crystal Palace owner suggested Newcastle fans shouldn’t get too carried away.

However, Jordan admitted he was wrong about manager Eddie Howe.

“We’re not even a third of the season through, we can see how things can change,” Jordan said.

“This time last year Newcastle had played nine games and hadn’t won any.

“Of course, they’ve gone on this phenomenal run of form, with Eddie Howe being brought in.

“I thought he’d struggle, I thought Newcastle would defensively struggle, I was wrong with that.

“I was wrong with Eddie Howe. Newcastle may yet prove me wrong and get into the top six.”

The former Bournemouth manager has completely transformed Newcastle since he replaced Steve Bruce.

Tottenham defender Matt Doherty admitted they were a completely different team under Howe this season.

Newcastle look so much more solid under Howe, and have the best defensive record in the league.

New centre-back Sven Botman has been one of the reasons for that upturn in form.

The Dutchman has admitted that he sometimes thinks Howe ‘hates’ him because of how much he shouts during training.

Howe clearly demands very high standards from his players in training, but they’re certainly reaping the benefits.

Miguel Almiron has been transformed under Howe, and is one of the in-form players in the Premier League right now.

Howe has admitted he’s been blown away by how hard Almiron works in training.

However, a report from The Telegraph suggests Howe and his staff have completely stripped back what he works on behind-the-scenes.

Jordan won’t be the only person who was wrong about Howe at Newcastle.

Their fans will be hoping he continues to prove people wrong as they keep looking up the Premier League table.
