Tottenham Hotspur defender Matt Doherty has praised Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe ahead of today’s clash.
Howe’s men have been on a brilliant run of form recently and currently sit sixth in the Premier League.
The Magpies have come a long way under the Englishman over the past year and will be hoping to push to qualify for European football this season.
Newcastle fell to a heavy defeat in north London last season as Antonio Conte’s men ran out 5-1 winners. But Doherty has told Spurs Play that he is expecting a completely different game this time around.

Doherty full of praise for Howe
The Irishman praised Howe for the job he has done so far at St James’ Park ahead of today’s clash.
“They’re in some decent form and I don’t think they’ve lost many games,” Doherty said.
“They’ve got a manager in there who seems to have them working well.
“I know when we played them last year we gave them a tough time but I think they’re a completely different team now.
“They seem to have a new lease of life, all the players are pretty confident. If we play how the manager wants us to play, with the style and system he wants us to play, we should be ok.”

Howe’s men picked up another win during the week as Miguel Almiron’s brilliant effort handed them three points against the Toffees.
Spurs fell to a disappointing defeat at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, after Newcastle picked up a point there just a few days before.
It’s set to be an intriguing game in north London today and Newcastle will be feeling quietly confident after their recent run of form.
The Magpies haven’t lost a game since the end of August and will provide a stern test for Conte’s men.
