Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe talked about how impressed he’s been with Miguel Almiron in training.

Howe was speaking to Amazon Prime after his side’s 1-0 victory over Everton last night.

Almiron was the match winner once again, curling an impeccable shot into the top corner.

His finish wasn’t hit the hardest, but was placed beautifully, just out of the reach of Everton keeper Jordan Pickford.

It was Almiron’s fifth goal of the season, surpassing his best ever tally in a Newcastle shirt.

Howe spoke about how impressed he’s been with Almiron’s work ethic in training.

A report from The Telegraph suggested that Newcastle coaches were working on the very basics with Almiron behind-the-scenes.

The work certainly seems to be paying off, with Almiron now proving to be a key attacking focal point for the Magpies.

Howe seriously impressed with Almiron in training

After the match, Howe was in a jubilant mood when speaking about the winger.

“First and foremost, the work ethic of the player is just incredible,” Howe said.

“Out of possession, you’ve got almost like an extra man with how much running he does.

“The player deserves the credit, he’s given everything.

“We’ve just tried to help him get in good positions, we’ve repeated lots of phases of play, that’s what we do.

“And we’ve tried to really work on his finishing at certain moments.

“The player’s just given everything and he’s getting his rewards, it’s great to see.”

The £20m signing from Atlanta United has always been a fan favourite despite his limited output.

There are still things to work on for Almiron, he had another chance in the second half that he should have done better with.

However, the signs are there that Eddie Howe’s training methods are certainly working on Almiron.

With Allan Saint-Maximin and Alexander Isak both missing through injury, Newcastle’s other attacking players have to step up.

Almiron has certainly proved this season that he’s more than capable of doing that.
