Graham Roberts tells Tottenham to sign James Maddison or Youri Tielemans
Graham Roberts has told Tottenham Hotspur to sign a Premier League proven midfielder like Youri Tielemans or James Maddison – two players who have also been linked with a move to Arsenal.
Spurs and Arsenal have both been very active in the transfer window so far. Antonio Conte’s side have brought in six new players, while the Gunners have made five new signings.
The two North London giants would still like to strengthen their squad, and surprisingly, they’re both looking to sign a new midfielder before the window shuts.
Both Arsenal and Spurs have been linked with Leicester City stars Maddison and Tielemans over the last few months, and Roberts has now urged Tottenham to beat Arsenal to the signing of at least one of them.
Tottenham told to sign Arsenal targets Maddison and Tielemans
Roberts, who spent six years and played over 200 games for Tottenham back in the ’80s, is still not fully satisfied with the signings.
He claims that if it was up to him, he’d sign a midfielder like Maddison or Tielemans this summer.
He said in a video on Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel, as quoted by HITC: “I think if we can get a decent midfield player, I would go for James Maddison or someone like that, Tielemans or someone like that.
“Because they have been there and done it in the Premier League.”

Spurs and Arsenal’s transfer shortlist appear to have multiple common names.
Both clubs went after Raphinha, but neither could get a deal over the line. They then locked horns in the race to sign Gabriel Jesus and Arsenal won that one. Spurs, however, managed to sign Richarlison despite rumours linking him with a move to the Emirates.
Maddison was named as a target for the two North London clubs as early as the back end of last season, while the Tielemans saga has been going on all summer, with both Arsenal and Spurs said to be interested.
Fans of both clubs sure love their bragging rights, and it will be interesting to see if one of the two clubs will be able to get either Maddison or Tielemans in before the window shuts.
