Report: Tottenham now know that £43m star would rather join Arsenal than them this summer
According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur now know that Gabriel Jesus wants to join Arsenal this summer.
The Manchester City forward will enter the final year of his contract soon. He is almost certain to leave the Etihad this summer, and no club has been linked with a move for him more than Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
However, over the last few days, the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea have also reportedly joined the race to sign him. Foreign clubs Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and even Real Madrid have been linked with a move.
That has increased the worries among Arsenal supporters, but if a latest report is to be believed, Gooners can calm down as Jesus has made up his mind.
Tottenham know Gabriel Jesus prefers Arsenal move
Just a couple of days ago, reports revealed that Tottenham are still pushing to beat Arsenal to Jesus’ signature this summer.
It was even claimed that Antonio Conte liked the fact that the Brazilian could play out wide as well as through the middle, which makes him a very useful option to have for any manager.
That’s the reason Tottenham wanted to sign him this summer, but now, Spurs have accepted that Jesus would rather move to Arsenal to link up with Arteta, who he worked with during their time together at Manchester City.
That is a blow to Spurs, but Arsenal fans will not care as it really does look like they’ll be able to sign the £43 million-rated star in the coming weeks.
Arsenal announced the signing of Fabio Vieira from Porto yesterday on a long-term contract.
The Portuguese midfielder wasn’t the player Gooners were expecting to see, but Edu wrapped up a deal very quickly and brought him in before any other club could make a move for him.
Now, the focus will be on a new striker and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Jesus is the man. The Italian journalist claims that negotiations between Arsenal and Manchester City at an advanced stage now.
“Gabriel Jesus deal update. Arsenal are working on it and negotiations are very advanced – Arsenal will now need to be fast on final, key details involving player/agents to get the deal done and avoid twists,” he tweeted late last night.
