Manchester United may have an edge over Liverpool in the race to sign one of the most talented players in the world.

The two fierce rivals are expected to make some big moves in this window.

Manchester United have already signed Joshua Zirkzee and are closing in on a deal to bring Matthijs De Ligt in, while Liverpool are yet to make any moves under their new boss Arne Slot.

The two historic English clubs have one common target this summer. Fabrizio Romano has revealed what’s going on.

Leny Yoro has been a wanted man in this window.

The talented 18-year-old is one of the best young defenders in the world. He has been unbelievable for Lille, and it looks almost certain that he will leave them for a bigger club.

Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Yoro for a long time. They have been keeping an eye on him and are ready to pounce if an opportunity arises.

Romano has revealed that Liverpool have even held talks with Yoro’s agents about a potential deal in this window.

However, Real Madrid are in the race to sign Yoro as well, while reports have revealed that Manchester United have had a bid accepted for Yoro by Lille too.

The player is yet to decide on his future, so all three clubs still have a chance. However, Lille’s president Olivier Letang is pushing his young player to choose Manchester United.

That’s according to Romano, who said on PlayBack on Monday night: “Leny Yoro will decide his future in the next days and it will be the player deciding.

“The proposal from Manchester United is still on the table, is still there, is still valid, is still accepted by Lille and still pending on player’s side. Leny Yoro is taking his time to decide.

“The president of Lille, Olivier Letang, is insisting a lot, pushing a lot for Leny Yoro to accept the proposal from Manchester United because Man United are offering way more than Real Madrid – €50 million (£42m) plus add-ons.

“So, Lille are pushing for the player to go to Manchester United. The player is still taking his time, with Real Madrid his biggest dream.”

What Liverpool privately think about Manchester United’s bid for Yoro

Yoro is destined to join one of the three biggest clubs in the world – Real Madrid, Manchester United or Liverpool.

The teenager is a terrific talent. He has all the qualities you would want from a central defender, and he will likely be a success wherever he ends up.

Real Madrid have to be considered as the favourites because the player prefers a move to the Bernabeu. However, Manchester United’s offer, which has already been accepted, is significantly better.

So, where does this leave Liverpool?

Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Liverpool think they can overtake Manchester United to sign Yoro because they believe they’re actually ahead of the Red Devils in the race to sign him.

“If they think they can get Yoro because he’s open to the Premier League Liverpool will move, and I’m told even though it appears Man United are ahead of Liverpool,” Jacobs said.

“Liverpool, if they enter the race, feel as though they’re actually in front of Manchester United.”
