Liverpool and Manchester United are both looking at signing new centre-backs this summer.
The Reds and the Red Devils are both fishing in the same sorts of ponds this summer, and one player who they’re both keen on is Leny Yoro.
The Lille defender has been the subject of a £42m bid from Manchester United over the past 24 hours, and that bid has been accepted.
However, it’s still thought that Yoro will end up at Real Madrid.
Interestingly, Liverpool still aren’t fully out of this race, and according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on Playback, Arne Slot’s side believe they could overtake Manchester United in this race with relative ease if they entered this race.

Liverpool could overtake Man Utd in Leny Yoro race
Jacobs shared what he knows about the defender.
“If they think they can get Yoro because he’s open to the Premier League Liverpool will move, and I’m told even though it appears Man United are ahead of Liverpool,” Jacobs said.
“Liverpool, if they enter the race, feel as though they’re actually in front of Manchester United.
“They’re just not going to engage in any negotiation or formal bid with Lille unless they feel it’s worth their while.”
Leny Yoro race is run
As exciting as it is to ponder the idea of Liverpool and United going head-to-head in this race, the reality is that most of this interest won’t matter.
Indeed, by all accounts, Yoro is headed for Real Madrid, whether that’s this summer or next year on a free transfer.
The player has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu, and that leaves both Liverpool and United in a rather helpless position.
Luckily, there are plenty of other options out there, and both United and Liverpool are well aware of the opportunities that exist on the transfer market right now.
