Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer spoke on the BBC Match of the Day Top 10 podcast about Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.
The England skipper has become the talk of the town recently for his trip to America to watch some golf. He was heavily criticised for his performance against Brighton at the weekend, even though it wasn’t really his fault that Spurs lost.
The summer transfer window is just a couple of months away and Spurs fans’ fear of losing Kane is slowly beginning to increase.
Shearer believes no Tottenham supporter will complain or hold a grudge against Kane if he leaves them this summer, but Lineker didn’t agree with that statement at all.
Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer disagree about Tottenham fans
Speaking about Kane, Lineker said: “Sometimes, we as fans, more than players, hate it when players leave our clubs. We say they are not loyal and don’t care, do we not give him some credit for being with the club that he (Kane) has been through his entire career that he’s stuck with?
“Perhaps we should applaud the fact he has stayed at his club even though they have won nothing.”
Shearer then added: “I don’t think there will be one Tottenham fan who would criticise him now if he was to demand (to leave).”
Lineker immediately disagreed: “I think you’re wrong, they half turned against him in the summer. A lot of them turned against him for a while, even though he’s won them round again now. There’s no question about it, I have Spurs fans as friends and they were really disappointed.”

TBR View:
Both Lineker and Shearer are right in a way.
After everything Kane has done over the years for Tottenham, he has arguably earned the right to move on and achieve his personal ambition of winning silverware.
However, if he does leave, you can’t really blame Spurs fans for being disappointed with him, can you?
With Antonio Conte at the helm, Tottenham are in the best position they’ve ever been in over the last 15 years to win silverware. Kane will be integral to that, but if he leaves, even the Italian might not be able to end the club’s trophy drought anytime soon.
