Ian Wright believes Tottenham Hotspur would be “crazy if they don’t” take up the option to sign Dejan Kulusevski permanently.

The Premier League legend was speaking about the Spurs loanee on Premier League Productions (16/04/22, 12:15pm).

Kulusevski has been a revelation since joining Tottenham on an initial loan deal from Juventus in January.

The 21-year-old has hit the ground running at N17, making 14 appearances for Spurs and registering three goals and six assists.

Admittedly, he struggled against Brighton at the weekend, but in terms of his time at Tottenham so far, it was a rare off-day.

According to Goal.com, Spurs have an option to buy Kulusevski for €35million (£29million).

“They will definitely take it”

Wright says he wouldn’t be surprised if Tottenham had already struck a deal for the Sweden international.

“He just finds himself in space,” said the former Arsenal striker. “So when he gets into space, he is very calm.

“Everytime you see him, he’s going to be in space.

“That’s what the quality players do.

“When he has time and space, he’s going to hurt you because he has so much ability.

“It will be crazy if they don’t. You see what he’s doing. Who wouldn’t take him?

“Doing what he’s doing now at the level he’s doing it at. They will definitely take it.

“That’s probably a deal I wouldn’t be surprised if they have already done it.”

In terms of Tottenham summer business, you’d assume that Kulusevski on a permanent is as good as done.

As Wright says, who wouldn’t trigger an option to buy a young, high-calibre player who’s already looking a cut above in the Premier League?

And best of all, for less than £30million?

Kulusevski’s arrival has turned Tottenham’s front line into arguably the best attacking setup alongside Liverpool.

Spurs have a lot of work to do to bolster their ranks in the summer, but the Kulusevski deal should be one that, if if it hasn’t been ticked off, needs to be done as soon as possible.
