'He has been so good': Gary Neville blown away by 'spectacular' PL star Conte wants at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur target Christian Eriksen impressed Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville on Monday night.

The Premier League legend reckons clubs “a lot higher up” than Brentford will be eyeing the Denmark international.

Spurs have been linked with Eriksen – who shone for the Lilywhites earlier in his career – in recent months.

And Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte recently admitted he’d bring the 30-year-old back to N17 “for sure”.

Eriksen made 305 appearances for Spurs during a six-and-a-half year spell in north London.

He then joined Inter Milan in January 2020, making 60 appearances for them and winning the Serie A title.

Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s match against Finland at Euro 2020 last June.

He was subsequently fitted with an implanted cardioverter-defibrillator.

Eriksen and Inter agreed to cancel his contract in December as players fitted with an ICD cannot compete in Serie A.

The Premier League does not have the same regulations, and in January, the 30-year-old joined Brentford.

Eriksen has impressed for the Bees, registering two assists and one goal in seven appearances so far.

He has also capped off a remarkable comeback for Denmark, scoring twice for his country in March.

As well as Spurs, the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle are also apparently eyeing Eriksen.

“There will be clubs a lot higher up than Brentford looking at him”

On Monday night, the Dane was one of Brentford’s brightest players in their 3-0 loss at Manchester United.

In the 55th minute of the game, Eriksen tested David de Gea with a superb free kick from 30 yards out.

“He has been so good, Eriksen,” said Neville, commentating on the game on Sky Sports (2/5/22, 21:13).

“There will be clubs a lot higher up than Brentford looking at him.

Can Spurs land “exceptional” Eriksen?

The Telegraph recently reported that Eriksen has been blowing people away behind the scenes at Brentford.

The report claims that a club source has branded the Dane as ‘exceptional’ since his arrival.

It notes how he has gone above and beyond to get to know staff and ways of working, and that he is showing ‘spectacular professionalism’ around the training ground.
