Tottenham fans want Luka Vuskovic in a back-three

Tottenham Hotspur fans have already been calling for Vuskovic to feature in a back-three, alongside Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

The defender enjoyed a very impressive debut for the North London club as he managed to get a goal and assist just eight minutes after coming off the bench.

The 18-year-old was part of Frank’s second-half team, and he certainly took his chance with both hands against the League One side.

His assist came from a corner as he flicked on Mohammed Kudus’ delivery to the back post, where Lankshear was waiting to guide the ball home.

The youngster then got his name on the scoresheet with such an impressive strike, as he lashed the ball home from just inside the penalty area.

Vuskovic, who cost Tottenham £12m, left Spurs supporters at the Madejski Stadium so impressed by his display and eager to see more from him.

One fan said: “A back-three of Van de Ven, Romero, Vuskovic will be so good.”

“Alright, Frank… Next game, I want to see a back-three. Vuskovic, Romero and Van de Ven,” urged another supporter.

There were further calls for a back-three: “Imagine how much stature that back line has if we do three at the back, Van de Ven left centre back, Romero in the middle and Vuskovic right centre back.”

Finally, another claimed: “At this rate, we simply have to play a back-three. Vuskovic cannot be on the bench if this carries on; he might get double-digit goals this season.”

Vuskovic hailed Van de Ven in his post-match interview, admitting that it was an ‘amazing experience’ to play alongside the Dutch defender.

The prospect of seeing the teenager line up alongside Spurs’ first-choice centre-back does seem rather exciting after his debut.

Frank can certainly keep that option up his sleeve for different circumstances next season.

Thomas Frank can’t afford to loan out Luka Vuskovic this summer

Vuskovic could well get more chances next season if he continues to impress during pre-season.

The defender’s display was hailed by his new manager after the match, claiming that he showed impressive physicality and composure against Reading.

Speaking to SpursOfficial, Frank admitted: “I agree, Luka deserves the praise as well. Also, an assist, a great header, and he showed his physicality.

“He showed his composure on the ball as well, he’s not getting stressed when the ball’s getting close and what a strike!”

Frank may well consider featuring him in a back-three next Saturday when Spurs take on Luton Town in their second pre-season match.
