Will Lankshear scored the first goal of the Thomas Frank era at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old headed home from close range after Luka Vuskovic flicked on Mohammed Kudus’ corner to pick out the Spurs academy graduate.

The Spurs youngster had a tricky loan spell at West Bromwich Albion but still managed to impress the club’s supporters with his performances.

Thomas Frank now has a big decision whether to send him out on loan again or keep him in the first-team squad, and Spurs fans have been urging him on what to do.

Tottenham fans desperate to keep Will Lankshear

Tottenham Hotspur fans are desperate to keep Will Lankshear in the first team next season following his goal in their 2-0 win over Reading.

Frank was keen to assess Lankshear during pre-season, and the youngster made a quick impression on the new Spurs boss.

During his time at Brentford, Frank tried to sign Lankshear, before Spurs swooped in and paid £2m to capture his services.

Lankshear scored against Galatasaray in Spurs’ Europa League campaign before being shown a red card in Turkey.

He was later sent out on loan to the Championship, where he failed to score in 11 appearances at the Hawthorns Stadium.

But following his goal against Reading, Spurs supporters are keen for the young striker to get chances in the first team next season.

One fan said: “Will Lankshear is definitely ready for the Premier League. He’s so much like young Kane but with a bigger body.”

“Lankshear should be our rotation guy. I mean, this guy scored against Victor Osimhen’s Galatasaray. There’s no way we’re loaning this guy again,” added another.

There was further praise for the youngster: “Lankshear is very impressive. I did see a glimpse of Harry Kane during the early group stages of our Europa League last season.”

Finally, another supporter claimed: “So pleased for Lankshear. He definitely has a future at Tottenham.”

Lankshear will be competing with Richarlison for that backup striker spot behind Dominic Solanke in the squad.

Although Richarlison is in talks to leave Tottenham this summer, with clubs from the Premier League and Brazil linked with him.

Frank revealed after the game that the Brazilian international has suffered another injury, and it’s unclear at this stage when he’ll be back.

Thomas Frank’s set-piece work pays off vs Reading

Lankshear’s goal against Reading came from a set-piece situation, which will have left Frank delighted.

The 51-year-old had his team practising these situations during the warm-up at the Madejski Stadium, and it paid off during the match.

In the second 45 minutes, Kudus was tasked with taking corners for the Lilywhites, and the Ghanaian put in a wicked delivery which picked out Vuskovic.

The young Croatian flicked the ball onto the back, where Lankshear was waiting to guide the ball home from close range.

Lankshear will get another chance to impress next Saturday when Spurs take on Luton Town in their second pre-season match.
