Report: West Ham are now far more likely to sign 'incredible' player rather than Jesse Lingard
West Ham United look to be stepping up their attempts to bolster David Moyes’ squad ahead of the upcoming season.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with moves for Chelsea striker Armando Broja and former Manchester United man Jesse Lingard in recent days.
But according to the Athletic, West Ham are more likely to sign Broja than Lingard at this moment in time.
Moyes has already added three players to his squad this summer after the signings of Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes and Alphonse Areola. And while the club are trying to add another two players, it looks like a move to West Ham for the ‘incredible’ Broja has more of a chance of being completed.
West Ham more likely to sign Broja than Lingard
The club are still waiting on a response from Chelsea after offering £30 million for the striker but apparently Broja is pushing for the move.
The Albanian striker is reportedly keen on making the switch across London as he seeks guaranteed first-team football
Fabrizio Romano reports that West Ham are still negotiating with Chelsea over Broja, but Thomas Tuchel is keen to keep the player.
The striker spent last season on loan at Southampton and impressed at Saint Mary’s. He scored nine goals for the Saints last season and his potent displays have clearly caught the attention of Premier League teams, as well as Tuchel.
West Ham reluctant to meet Lingard’s wage demands
Lingard is keen on a move back to East London, with 90 Min reporting that West Ham is his preferred destination.
The club are reluctant meet his wage demands, despite Moyes being really keen on a reunion with the player.
And the Hammers face competition for the midfielder as Premier League new-boys Nottingham Forest are also close to agreeing a deal with Lingard.
The 29-year-old spent half of the 2019-20 season on loan at the Hammers and was brilliant under Moyes. He even forced his way back into the England team after bagging nine goals and five assists in 16 games.
West Ham are clearly pushing to sign both Lingard and Broja, but it seems the latter is more likely at this stage.
Both players would be brilliant additions to Moyes’ squad but they probably need Broja a bit more as Michail Antonio is currently the only striker the squad.
