Nottingham Forest are close to agreeing a deal with Jesse Lingard, according to Jacob Steinberg.
On Tuesday afternoon, The Guardian journalist wrote of the Reds’ interest in the England international.
‘Forest are considering whether to make him an offer,’ read the article.
And on Tuesday evening, Steinberg took to Twitter to provide an update on the Lingard to Forest state of play.
Steinberg also claimed that Forest had offered Lingard ‘a lot’ in hope of persuading him to pick the City Ground.
Nonetheless, he stressed that ‘nothing on this is finalised yet’.
The initial report in The Guardian suggested that West Ham are currently leading the race for Lingard.
The 29-year-old enjoyed a fruitful loan at the London Stadium in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign.
Lingard has reportedly remained close with many of West Ham’s players and has a good understanding with David Moyes.
However, it looks as though Forest are trying their hardest to hijack the Hammers’ move for the former Manchester United man.
Everton are also in the running, while Leicester, Newcastle and Tottenham are monitoring the situation, added the report.
Lingard is said to be close to making a decision on his future.
