According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are now on the verge of signing Djed Spence from Middlesbrough.
Spurs have had a fantastic window so far. Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Clement Lenglet have all come in, but Antonio Conte is not done just yet.
Tottenham are still on the market for two new wing-backs. Sergio Reguilon is not in Conte’s plans anymore, while on the opposite side, Spurs are in desperate need of an upgrade over both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty.
After weeks of negotiations, it looks like the North Londoners are set to solve one of the above problems.
Tottenham are on the verge of signing Djed Spence
David Ornstein revealed on The Athletic a few moments ago that Tottenham are ‘on the verge of reaching total agreement’ with Middlesbrough to sign Spence.
Negotiations between Daniel Levy and his counterpart at Boro, Steve Gibson, produced a breakthrough today, and the deal is now set to be completed barring any hiccups.
The report claims that if everything goes to plan now, Spence will undergo his Spurs medical in the next 48 hours, which is amazing news for Tottenham fans.
Spence had been linked with plenty of clubs in the Premier League, and Spurs deserve immense credit if they can get this deal over the line.

TBR View:
There were a lot of question marks over Antonio Conte’s future at the end of last season.
Many felt that the only way Spurs will manage to keep hold of him is if he’s seriously backed in the transfer window.
Levy and Fabio Paratici have done exactly that, and after completing five fantastic signings already, it looks like Tottenham will seal a deal to bring in another quality player in Spence.
A fee has not been disclosed just yet, but Spence has been a target for Spurs for a while, and Tottenham fans will sure be glad that it’s on the verge of completion now.
