The Djed Spence to Tottenham Hotspur transfer saga continues to rumble on.

As per the Evening Standard, Spurs and Middlesbrough ‘remain locked in protracted negotiations’ over the player.

Tottenham are soon flying out for their pre-season tour of South Korea.

However, the prospect of Spence joining Spurs on their trip is ‘impossible’, added the report.

Tottenham have been in talks with Boro but are understood to not have had a bid accepted.

The clubs apparently are discussing the finer details of the deal as Spurs hope to find a breakthrough.

Transfer insider Dean Jones believes Tottenham “know” that Spence wants to join them.

And he believes Spurs effectively need to issue an ultimatum if Boro don’t budge on their valuation.

“Something needs to happen very soon,” Jones wrote on GiveMeSport.

“Either Boro need to budge on their valuation or Spurs need to give them a take it or leave it offer.

“Tottenham will say we can’t drag this on all summer, we know he wants to come to us, let’s get it done.”

Boro apparently value Spence at £15-20million.

The 21-year-old is an “unbelievable, fantastic” player

He looked a cut above for Nottingham Forest last season, helping them reach the Premier League.

It’s certainly frustrating that negotiations still seem to be dragging on, particularly when the player seems so keen on joining Spurs.

However, there’s still plenty of time for Tottenham to get the Spence deal over the line.
