Dean Jones has provided an update on the transfer sage involving Tottenham Hotspur and Djed Spence.
The transfer insider, writing on GiveMeSport, claims Spurs “need to get over” the price hurdle with Middlesbrough.
Tottenham have reportedly been in talks over Spence for a number of weeks now.

Indeed, there were reports in June claiming Spurs had struck a deal, though those proved premature.
The Telegraph claimed on Wednesday that Tottenham were edging towards an agreement in principle for Spence.
They added that Boro are settling on an initial £15million fee which could reach £20million after instalments.
But on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel denied that Spence is close to joining Spurs.
He said: “The views I was getting from Tottenham today is that [the Djed Spence deal] wasn’t close at all and there’s still quite a way from coming to an agreement.”
Jones has claimed that, despite the apparent stumbling blocks, Spurs really want to get the deal done.
“It’s this price hurdle they need to get over and Boro are holding out,” he wrote. “They want as much as they can get out of this deal.
“Spurs feel that £20m is too much money to be paying. But ultimately they do really like this guy and would like to get it done.”
Spence is an “unbelievable, fantastic” player who looked a cut above for Nottingham Forest last season, helping them reach the Premier League.
While it may be frustrating that negotiations still seem to be going on, there’s still plenty of time for the Spence deal to get over the line.
However, it remains to be seen whether Spence will be on board in time for Tottenham’s pre-season trip to South Korea.
