Tottenham and Djed Spence are like apples and oranges this summer, but as yet, no deal has been completed to see the right-back move to London.

Spence has been on the radar of Tottenham all summer long and there is an expectancy among all parties that a deal will, eventually, get done. However, as yet, there are disagreements over the fee, with some reports suggesting Tottenham might even be £5m off the asking-price Middlesbrough want.

However, according to Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge, talks are continuing and Spence himself has told his agents to get the deal with Tottenham done.

“It’s gone on all summer. Spurs have wanted him for quite some time and they’ve liked him for a long time. Talks are still continuing and I know there were reports last week that a deal was extremely close. My understanding was that it wasn’t,” Bridge said on Sky Sports News.

“I know that both clubs would like to get this done ASAP. I think the player would like to join Tottenham, he’s made that very clear to his representatives and Middlesbrough. But a fee is still being discussed.”

Dubbed as ‘fantastic‘ player by former teammate Sol Bamba, Spence would be Tottenham’s sixth summer signing after they landed Clement Lenglet last week.

TBR’s View: Tottenham Have To Crack On With Spence Deal

It might be that Middlesbrough are holding things up here on the money side of things but you do feel Tottenham need to get on with getting this move finished off.

It’s been in the pipeline for weeks now and the longer it ticks on, the less time Spence has to get used to his new teammates and Antonio Conte’s ways.

Spence is likely to be in for a big shock when he does join Spurs. So the sooner he signs, the better really.
