Spurs are thought to have confirmed their interest in Milan Skriniar with a proposal sent to Inter Milan, according to a report from Tuttomercatoweb.
Despite plenty of links, Tottenham are yet to bolster their defensive ranks this summer.

They had apparently agreed a deal for Jules Kounde on Tuesday. However, it was claimed shortly after that the Sevilla star had rejected Spurs.
Meanwhile, they continue to have been heavily linked with Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Tomiyasu may perhaps be a contender to be the first signing through the door at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But he may not be the only Serie A defender Fabio Paratici pushes to sign.
Skriniar has seemingly been on Spurs’ radar for much of the last couple of years.
Earlier this summer, it was claimed that Paratici was looking to land Skriniar. He could reportedly cost around £51.5 million.
And now it would appear that Spurs have stepped up their interest. According to Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham have sent a proposal to Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio.
Huge statement if Spurs go on and sign Skriniar amid proposal reports
It really does appear that Spurs must strengthen their defensive options before the new campaign begins.
They really struggled at centre-back last season. Joe Rodon endured a mixed first season. Davinson Sanchez has arguably not kicked on as some would have hoped.
And Toby Alderweireld could leave, reports suggest.
So signing Skriniar would be a fantastic move. The 26-year-old is coming into the peak of his career having won the Serie A title last year.
Admittedly, Skriniar is reportedly keen to stay at San Siro. It may therefore, not be easy to agree a deal.
Tottenham must ask the question, however. Skriniar would be an outstanding signing.
And they would kick themselves if he headed elsewhere.
