According to Record in Portugal, Luis Diaz has just rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspur because he wants to join Liverpool in the summer instead.

The Guardian revealed earlier this week that Spurs tabled an initial bid of £37.6 million to sign the Porto attacker but that was immediately turned down.

The Independent claimed that the Portuguese giants were looking for a fee in the region of £50 million to part ways with Diaz, who has been absolutely incredible for them.

Record, however, have claimed now that it was Diaz who rejected Tottenham, not Porto.

Luis Diaz thinks Liverpool will make a move for him

Before Tottenham even came into the picture, it was Liverpool who were heavily linked with a move for the Colombian.

The Reds have reportedly been keen to sign Diaz for a few months now and that seems to have really excited the player. He is now waiting for Jurgen Klopp side’s to make a move for him and the report claims that he’d jump at the chance of going to Anfield.

That interest from Liverpool has convinced him to turn down Tottenham, according to the report, as he feels that Antonio Conte’s side are not on the same ‘level’ as the Merseysiders.

That is a big blow for Spurs, but it is a massive boost for Liverpool ahead of what could be a really busy summer transfer window for them.

The Reds are expected to be on the market for a new attacker if one of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino or Mohamed Salah moves on. The deadly Liverpool trio will all enter the final year of their contract in the summer and it won’t be a surprise to see one of them leave.

Diaz, labelled as ‘sensational’ by Tim Vickery, would be a brilliant addition to Klopp’s side.

The Colombian, since joining Porto in the summer of 2019, has directly been involved in 60 goals in all competitions. That is an outrageous return for a winger and he will surely thrive if he moves to Liverpool in the summer.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. Tottenham are unlikely to give up in the next few days, but if they cannot convince him, Liverpool will become the favourites for his signature in six months time.
