Liverpool ready £67m bid for player on Manchester United and Newcastle radar - report
Liverpool are in talks over Luis Diaz amid interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United, according to A Bola.
The Reds are reportedly willing to put forward an initial £60million offer for the Porto ace, plus
However, Liverpool apparently have competition from the Red Devils as well as the Magpies for Diaz.
The Anfield outfit boasts one of the best front lines in world football, but there’s scope to bring in fresh legs.
And with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at the Africa Cup of Nations, Liverpool could certainly look to bring someone in quickly.
14 goals and five assists from just 24 club appearances this season
Diaz has made a name for himself as one of the hottest talents in Europe over the past 12 months.
The 24-year-old has an impressive 14 goals and five assists from 24 club appearances in all competitions this term.
Last season, the Colombian international produced 11 goals and six assists in all competitions for the Portuguese giants last season.
He then excelled at last summer’s Copa America. Diaz ended the competition with four goals, the joint-top scorer alongside Argentina’s Lionel Messi.
A Bola reported yesterday that Liverpool are leading the race to sign Diaz and are willing to offer £60million fixed for the player’s transfer.
They also added that Manchester United and Newcastle are also in pursuit of the exciting attacker.
Today, the Portuguese outlet claims the Reds will also look to offer £7million in bonuses.
This would take the overall sum to £67million – Diaz’s release clause.
Since it’s not £67million up front, Porto still appear to have a say in the matter.
However, if they accept and the player gives his consent, he will go elsewhere, added the outlet.
“He will be in the orbit of the best clubs in the world”
In November last year, Barcelona and Argentina legend Javier Saviola spoke highly of Diaz.
He said (as quoted by O Jogo): “When I saw Luis Díaz I was amazed and the evolution he had is important.
“He is a distinguished player with impressive technique and also has a goal (threat).
“It is lucky for Colombia to have Luis Diaz. He will certainly give a lot to Colombian football.
“It will be necessary to prepare him and be patient.
“Surely in the coming years he will be in the orbit of the best clubs in the world.”
