There is a determination from both the player and the club to make Djed Spence Tottenham’s next signing of the summer.
The Daily Mail report that Spurs want to make the Middlesbrough defender their next new face during a window where they are getting deals done early.
And the player himself is determined to make the move to the Premier League, with Tottenham his preferred destination amid a host of interest.
Spence would be Spurs’ fourth signing of a summer which has been busy already and could yet see them land a new central defender and forward.

Spence set to be Tottenham’s next signing
Tottenham are now back in talks with Boro for Spence to try and sort out a £16 million deal.
Their first discussions were fruitless because Chris Wilder’s men want at least a guaranteed £15 million with add-ons on top.
It has been reported that Boro suspect that Spurs are waiting to make a bid to try and drive down his price and that Daniel Levy has taken over the negotiations.
That may explain why progress is slow and every pound of a deal with a Championship club is being haggled over.

Gabriel Martinelli came up against Spence earlier this season and described him as ‘very good‘, indicating that the Englishman can make the jump to the Premier League.
The determination on both sides to get the deal done should see it over the line but Spurs fans and Antonio Conte will hope this next round of negotiations do not take too long.
Getting Spence in as signing number four would continue an impressive window, which could go to another level if an elite centre-half and forward follow him through the door.
