Newcastle United’s hopes of signing Joe Willock from Arsenal are apparently hanging by a thread, according to a report from the Shields Gazette.
Unsurprisingly, Willock appears to be a key target for the Magpies this summer.

He, of course, scored seven goals in his final seven appearances for Steve Bruce’s side after joining on loan in January.
Unfortunately for those hoping to see Willock return, it appears that Newcastle are struggling to get a deal done.
The Shields Gazette reports that the 21-year-old is available this summer. However, Arsenal are holding out for a permanent move.

Newcastle meanwhile, want to take Willock on a fresh loan. And it now appears that the Magpies will now have to wait until the latter stages of the window to learn if Arsenal’s stance will change.
The Shields Gazette notes that both Crystal Palace and Monaco also want Willock.
It is a big blow for Newcastle. It was reported last week that the Magpies expected to learn a decision on his future in the next 48 hours.
Obviously, that deadline has long passed. And his future remains up in the air.
Hard for Newcastle to appease supporters if Arsenal offload Willock elsewhere
It has been an incredibly quiet start to the window for Newcastle. But it did seem that bringing Willock back would go some way to making the fans feeling a little more hopeful about the coming campaign.
Many will be furious if he heads elsewhere. The fees being talked about for a permanent move are hardly out of the question.
Some reports have suggested that Willock could cost as little as £15 million. Even a £30 million fee would quickly prove decent business if Willock got anywhere near his form from last season.
So Newcastle fans will be extremely furious to hear that their hopes of landing Willock are apparently now hanging by a thread.
