Report: Middlesbrough expect they will agree Spence fee with Spurs
Middlesbrough expect they will eventually agree a fee with Tottenham Hotspur for Djed Spence, according to a report from Football London.
Spence has been linked with Spurs for much of the year following his brilliant loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season. One thing that does seem for sure is that the 21-year-old will not be playing at the Riverside Stadium next year.
And Tottenham look to be leading the charge for his signature. Reports claimed that the youngster himself is confident that he will end up in Antonio Conte’s squad next season.
Tottenham have met with his agent. However, agreeing a fee with the defender has proved to be an issue.
Middlesbrough value Spence at £20 million.
There has been no agreement thus far. But it seems that those in Teesside expect that situation to change – at some point.
Football London reports that those working behind the scenes at Middlesbrough believe that they will eventually agree a fee with Tottenham for Spence.

It would be a surprise if Spurs decided to let the opportunity to sign Spence pass them by. He is an ‘unbelievable‘ prospect who shone against several Premier League sides last season.
Perhaps they may have other targets in mind and feel that they may get better value for money. They may feel that paying £20 million is too much for a player who is yet to play in the top-flight.
Tottenham may also be delaying a move to secure a better price. But Antonio Conte may not be overly happy with that stance as he looks to welcome as many of their new signings as possible into the fold before pre-season.
Middlesbrough still expect Spence to end up in those ranks. But it may take a little more time.
