Report: 'Incredible' player confident he'll soon join Spurs, Conte wants solution 'immediately'

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Djed Spence in recent weeks.

However, Spurs are yet to make a breakthrough in negotiations for the 21-year-old.

The Sun has today reported that talks between Tottenham and Middlesbrough have hit a snag.

Apparently, Spurs and Boro remain apart in terms of Spence’s valuation.

The Championship club reportedly wants £15million plus add-ons for the “incredible” right-back.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are looking to pay ‘considerably less’ than that for Spence, claimed the report.

However, ‘there is confidence on the player’s side that an agreement will eventually be reached’.

In addition, Spurs have ‘long been admirers’ of the player, suggesting they’ll keep pushing for a solution.

And ‘considering their own present shortcomings in the position, Antonio Conte wants to address this issue immediately’.

Earlier this week, Sky Sports reported that Tottenham were planning further talks over the 21-year-old.

The outlet also claimed Daniel Levy would take over from Fabio Paratici in negotiations for Spence.

This is to allow the Italian to focus on other targets.

It suggests Tottenham have effectively locked in on Spence, who is said to be eager to join Spurs.

No cause for concern yet – TBR View

Although it looks as though negotiations for Spence have stalled, there’s no cause for concern just yet.

It’s still early in the transfer window, and there’s plenty of time for Spurs and Boro to come to an agreement.

And Spence really seems keen on the idea of joining Tottenham, so at least it should be plain sailing in that aspect.

In addition, Nottingham Forest – who Spence helped earn promotion to the Premier League – have apparently admitted defeat in the race.

Admittedly, there are other Premier League clubs, as well as Borussia Dortmund, reportedly monitoring proceedings.

Nonetheless, Spurs still seem to be in pole position, and Paratici and Levy know what they’re doing.
