Sol Bamba has told talkSPORT that he believes that Tottenham would be the best move for Djed Spence, and insisted that Antonio Conte is the ideal coach to get the best out of the 21-year-old.

The race for Spence’s signature is hotting up. Of course, he goes into this summer having played a key role in helping Nottingham Forest secure promotion to the Premier League.

Spurs appear to be leading the race to sign the youngster. Reports claimed late last week that Tottenham have met with the £20 million-rated starlet’s agents in London to hold talks about a move.

Bamba was, very briefly, a teammate of Spence’s. The right-back left Middlesbrough on loan just a few weeks after Bamba completed his move to the Riverside Stadium.

But he is in no doubt that Spence would be a very good signing for Tottenham. And he suggested that working with Conte could be the difference between the defender realising his full potential or not.

“The potential is there, he’s an unbelievable, fantastic player. Under Conte, in my opinion, I think he will learn a lot,” he told talkSPORT.

“Young players need discipline. And I’m sure Conte will give that to him. Going forward, he’s fantastic. But I think defensively, he can improve. And for me, Tottenham will be the best move for him.”

Tottenham the best move for Spence

Spence certainly does not require any further evidence to see that working with Conte could help him realise his potential.

The Italian has worked wonders with several players, with Spurs fans already seeing that for themselves.

And if he decides that he wants Spence to join Tottenham this summer, he will clearly feel that the defender has the potential to contribute to a side with aspirations to at least be in the title conversation next year.
