Report: Manchester City identify three replacements for Laporte, includes Ben White
Manchester City have identified three defenders for a transfer, with Ben White on the list, as replacements for Aymeric Laporte, according to Duncan Castles.
According to the transfer guru, the Citizens have held ‘preliminary discussions’ with the Brighton ace.
The Spaniard has long been linked with an exit from the Etihad Stadium. He’s attracted interest from La Liga’s three biggest sides, Atletico, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
It’s thought Laporte is unhappy over his role and the club and about missing out on the Champions League final team.
Pau Torres and Jules Kounde are the other two centre-back targets in case Laporte leaves the club.
TBR View: Manchester City can snatch a transfer for White from under Arsenal’s noses
Manchester City can snatch a transfer of White from under the noses of Arsenal.
Arsenal have been in deep discussions over a few weeks with the centre-half. However, City can offer things that make them the more attractive club.
Coming off a Premier League title and Champions League final, City can offer the ace better quality football.
Meanwhile, playing under Pep Guardiola would no doubt be an attractive offer. The Spaniard has helped players development during his five years at the club, including Raheem Sterling and John Stones.
However, it must be stressed, the side would need to offload Laporte before any deal is possible. The high wages and saturated centre-half position, makes a move for White impossible without sales.
Swiping the Brighton defender from under the noses of Arsenal would be an outstanding move from Man City.
