According to a report from Dean Jones on GiveMeSport, Leeds United are shocked to see Newcastle pushing to sign Jack Harrison this summer.
Jesse Marsch’s side have had a decent transfer window in terms of incomings so far.
Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi, Tyler Adams, Luis Sinisterra and Sonny Perkins have all come in, but the departures of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips are a big blow.
The one thing Leeds just cannot do now is lose another one of their important players. Newcastle, however, are reportedly making a strong push.
Leeds shocked to see Newcastle pushing to sign Jack Harrison
Newcastle were first linked with a move for Harrison back in May. The rumour mill then calmed down for a while, but multiple reports have claimed this month that the Magpies really are keen to sign the 25-year-old, who has been branded as an ‘unbelievable’ player by Phillips.
Just yesterday, it was revealed that Eddie Howe’s side had a £25 million bid rejected by Leeds for Harrison. The Whites are reportedly holding out for a fee of £35 million for the talented attacker, who scored 10 goals in all competitions last season.
Jones now reveals on GiveMeSport that Leeds are shocked by Newcastle’s interest in Harrison. It has been claimed that the Whites never anticipated such a strong push from the Magpies, who are really keen to get a deal over the line.
The report claims that Newcastle view Harrison as a player who would bring ‘desire and industrious nature on top of the natural ability that can open up goalscoring opportunities.’

TBR View:
A lot was expected of Newcastle United in this summer’s transfer window.
The Magpies, who seemed destined to go down in January, brought in Bruno Guimaraes, Dan Burn, Matt Targett, Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood. That changed their fortunes in the second half of the campaign, and they ended up finishing 11th, just seven points behind West Ham and nine behind sixth-placed Manchester United.
Another stunning transfer window could really push Newcastle near the top seven, but Howe’s side have been pretty quiet. Sven Botman is a sensational signing, while Nick Pope and Targett on a permanent deal is decent business as well.
However, Newcastle need a top-quality attacker before the season starts, and reports have led us to believe that Harrison is their main target at this moment in time.
