Report: Newcastle want to sign Leeds winger Jack Harrison
Newcastle want Jack Harrison, with the Daily Mail reporting that the winger is one of the players who could still leave Leeds United this summer.
Jesse Marsch’s men will still be celebrating on Monday after they managed to keep themselves in the Premier League. And it was Harrison who all but confirmed that safety was secured for the Whites.
The winger’s deflected effort in stoppage-time gave Leeds their winner and sparked wild scenes in the away end at Brentford on the final day of the campaign.
Of course, securing survival leaves Leeds in such a better position. There is no longer talk of key men leaving on the cheap. And the Whites are already closing in on a deal for Brenden Aaronson.
But departures may still be on the cards. Raphinha is reportedly still likely to leave. And there is interest in others.
The Daily Mail reports that Newcastle have joined Tottenham in monitoring Harrison.
Newcastle want Jack Harrison
In some respects, Newcastle have dealt themselves a transfer blow. Of course, the Magpies played their part in Leeds staying up on the final day of the campaign.
Many Leeds fans feared how Eddie Howe’s men would fare at Burnley. Obviously, Newcastle secured their safety some time ago. And it was hard to see the Magpies being able to get themselves up a potentially-hostile Turf Moor after their superb display against Arsenal earlier in the week.
But Newcastle did their bit. And with that, they now face paying considerably more for Harrison if they want the 25-year-old this summer.
However, Newcastle have the means to compete with anyone for most targets. Harrison has been ‘fantastic‘ this season. And the Magpies may hope that they can still bring him to St James’ Park.
