Report: 'Extraordinary' player Newcastle want to sign has the same agent as Joelinton, Nickson has great relationship
According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle United are interested in signing PSG star Julian Draxler.
A report from Le10 Sport suggests Eddie Howe’s side have already opened talks with the German, but are facing a common problem in convincing Draxler to make the move to Tyneside.
There may already be a player within the Newcastle squad that could help move the deal along; cult hero Joelinton.
Chronicle Live have reported that Joelinton and Draxler use the same agency and Newcastle’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson already has a great relationship with their agents.
Newcastle could bring the best out in Draxler
Newcastle have already brought in defender Sven Botman, England goalkeeper Nick Pope and made Matt Targett’s loan move from Aston Villa into a permanent deal, but Eddie Howe will be hoping to bolster his side’s attack before the window closes.
The Magpies have already been linked with moves for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Monaco forward Sofiane Diop and Armando Broja.
However, Howe will be hoping to strengthen across his squad, and a move to St. James’ Park might be just the opportunity that Draxler needs.
The German has struggled with injury issues and competing against some of the biggest stars in the world for minutes at PSG.
Since joining the French club in 2017, Draxler has only managed 131 league appearances, and started only five games last season.
However, the ‘extraordinary‘ Draxler is capable of playing in a variety of positions across the forward line or in midfield and former manager Mauricio Pochettino ‘loves‘ his versatility. If he can stay fit, he could really flourish in a side where he’s one of the main stars.
