Report: Chelsea confident they're going to sign 'superstar' who Antonio Conte wants at Tottenham soon
Leao has been putting in some dazzling performances for Milan over the past two seasons and he’s caught the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The 23-year-old has already netted seven times and provided nine assists in just 20 appearances for Stefano Pioli’s men this season.
There’s doubt surrounding his future at the moment as he currently has just 18-months left on his contract.
Milan are eager to tie him down on a new contract but it seems that Graham Potter’s men are confident they can lure the ‘superstar’ forward away from the San Siro.
Chelsea confident they’re going to sign Leao
90 Min reports that Chelsea are confident they can secure a deal for Leao, with the Portuguese international yet to agree a contract extension with the Rossoneri.
Milan are prepared to make Leao the highest-paid player in Italy in order to keep hold of their star.
The club wanted to tie him down on a new deal before the World Cup got underway, but their lucrative offer hasn’t proved to be enough so far.
With contract talks stalling, Chelsea are monitoring the situation closely and are optimistic about their chances of landing Leao.
Football.London reported earlier this month that Spurs are now in the market for ‘quality’ Dejan Kuluevski cover.
Conte has been left short in terms of his attacking options in recent weeks, with Kulusevski, Heung-Min Son and Richalrison all picking up injuries at various points.
Lucas Moura has failed to impress since his return from injury, while Conte doesn’t seem to trust Bryan Gil enough for a starting role just yet.
Leao would certainly provide Spurs with another top-quality option across the front-three but they’ll face stiff competition for his signature.
With Chelsea apparently stealing a march on them, Spurs may be forced to look elsewhere as they rarely get involved in bidding wars.
