Report: Tottenham interested in AC Milan forward Rafael Leao
Tottenham Hotspur are one of the sides interested in signing Rafael Leao amid speculation over his future with AC Milan, according to a report from Calciomercato.It.
Leao has taken his game to another level over the last couple of years. He was directly involved in 21 goals in Serie A last year as the Rossoneri won the Scudetto.
Meanwhile, he is off to a fantastic start to this campaign. The 23-year-old has scored four goals and provided seven assists in nine games across the top-flight and Champions League.
Tottenham interested in Rafael Leao
Milan face a battle to keep him at San Siro. The Athletic reports that he is out of contract until 2024. And it is noted that the club have a disciplined wage structure.
The problem facing Milan is that there is a lot of interest from elsewhere, and Jorge Mendes is involved with the player. Calciomercato. It reports that he has an offer on the table worth £167,500-a-week. Milan meanwhile, are not prepared to meet his demands.
The Italian outlet notes that Tottenham are one of the teams keen on signing the forward.
Signing Leao would certainly be an amazing piece of business for Antonio Conte’s side. He is one of the most exciting talents playing anywhere in Europe right now.
Fikayo Tomori told The Athletic that he is ‘electric’ and ‘has everything’. Stefano Piolo meanwhile, compared the youngster with Thierry Henry based on the way that his game has evolved.
Clearly, it is going to be an extremely busy race for his signature should it become clear that he is available.
And Tottenham may need to pull something special out of the bag to do a deal. As things stand, it appears that Conte’s men still have plenty to do to elevate themselves to that next level.
But it is extremely exciting that they appear to be in the conversation for Leao ahead of his next move.
