Report: Arsenal want 29-year-old now available on free; but Aston Villa and Tuchel are also keen
Arsenal and Aston Villa are set to do battle once again in the transfer window with the Daily Mail reporting that they are both monitoring Marcus Bettinelli.
Bettinelli is a free agent. The 29-year-old left Fulham at the end of last season, having spent the campaign out on loan with Middlesbrough.
His old club may have fallen out of the top flight, but it would appear that Bettinelli could attract several Premier League offers this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Chelsea all want the goalkeeper.
Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale are reportedly on the radar.
Villa meanwhile, lost Tom Heaton earlier this summer. The Englishman rejoined Manchester United after two years in the Midlands.
Arsenal and Aston Villa set for another battle amid Bettinelli links
The Gunners and Villans have locked horns on a couple of occasions already this summer.
Villa landed Emi Buendia ahead of Mikel Arteta’s men at the start of the window.
Arsenal look set to keep Emile Smith Rowe despite Dean Smith’s side making an incredibly ambitious move to sign him.
The stakes are not as high with Bettinelli. It is hard to imagine the one-time England under-21 international – who was once called up for the senior squad – being first choice if he joins a Premier League club this summer.
But he is an experienced player available on a free transfer. So he may prove to be a shrewd signing for one of his admirers.
