Arsenal transfer: Report shares Aston Villa stance on Smith Rowe after £25m bid

Arsenal fans may not have heard the last of speculation linking Emile Smith Rowe with a move to Aston Villa in the transfer window, with The Northern Echo sharing the Villans’ stance on the 20-year-old after seeing a bid rejected.

Villa stunned many by offering £25 million for Smith Rowe. It came with Dean Smith’s men already beating the Gunners to the signature of Emi Buendia.

Smith Rowe was a real shining light for Mikel Arteta’s men. He was unquestionably one of their best players after getting a proper run in the side just before the turn of the year.

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal are reportedly trying to agree a new contract with the academy graduate. However, Villa had hoped to scupper their hopes of sorting fresh terms for the attacking midfielder.

According to the Daily Mail, Smith Rowe is now set to sign a new contract. But perhaps that may not actually be the end of the speculation.

Because The Northern Echo is actually reporting that Villa still believe that a deal could be done.

Of course, a new contract would end those hopes. But it would appear that the Villans are hoping that there is a late twist in the tale.

Arsenal fans unlikely to be too concerned amid transfer speculation, but may still refuse to get carried away until Smith Rowe deal is confirmed

It is a surprise to see reports claiming that Villa are still holding out hope for Smith Rowe.

It was suggested this week that Arsenal would not even sell for £75 million, let alone £25 million. So clearly, Villa have got a lot of work to do if they still fancy their chances of completing a deal.

Having said that, Arsenal fans may refuse to get carried away just yet. His contract expires in two years.

So if he does decide against signing a new deal, Arsenal may find themselves in a tricky position.
