Report: ‘Amazing’ player is about to finally join Everton, he could play vs Nottingham Forest on Saturday
Everton have been in talks with Gueye for several weeks now, with PSG offering the 32-year-old to Frank Lampard’s side as he’s now surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes.
The Toffees have been keen to bring in Gueye to play alongside new midfielder Amadou Onana, and think the two could form a great partnership.
It would be a real boost for Everton to confirm Gueye’s signing ahead of Saturday’s match against newly promoted Nottingham Forest.
Lampard lost first choice midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure to an injury against Aston Villa last weekend, and having the ‘amazing’ Gueye come in before Everton’s next game would be a massive boost.
Gueye is about to finally join Everton
It’s safe to say Everton’s luck with injuries hasn’t been great this season.
Lampard has already lost the spine of his team after two games, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina joining Doucoure on the treatment table.
New signings James Tarkowski and Conor Coady have been brought in to give Lampard more defensive options, but Everton are still short of midfielders and desperately need a striker.
Everton have been considering moves for Championship strikers Ben Brereton Diaz and Viktor Gyokeres, and Lampard has personally been studying Bamba Dieng.
He’ll be glad that Gueye’s move to Goodison Park is nearly complete, so that he can concentrate on the club’s other transfer priorities.
