TBR Football understands that Nottingham Forest are in talks with Sean Dyche to take over from Ange Postecoglou.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis axed Postecoglou following their defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, ending his reign after less than 40 days and just eight games in charge.

TBR Football can confirm that Nottingham Forest officials have spoken to Dyche in the last week and now things are proceeding with further conversations.

We are told that Forest have proposed an initial deal until the end of the season for Sean Dyche, who recently backed away from talks to take charge of Scottish giants Rangers.

Marinakis has moved quickly to replace Postecoglou and Dyche is available to start imminently, having been out of work since leaving Everton back in January.

Two of his trusted assistant coaches, Ian Woan and Steve Stone, also happen to be Forest legends, and they could well follow him to the City Ground.

Sources: Forest deal with Sean Dyche is ‘close’

Our chief correspondent Graeme Bailey said: “Forest have been considering their options for more than a week and that included talks with Dyche.

“They are now taking that on, and he now has the chance of taking charge at the City Ground.

“Talks are ongoing, the length of contract being one issue, but sources believe a deal is close, although it’s not done… yet.”

Roberto Mancini wants Nottingham Forest job

Bailey also confirmed that Italian legend Roberto Mancini has made a move to try and land the job.

Mancini has been quick to make it clear to Forest that he is keen to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2013 when he left Manchester City.

“Roberto Mancini is a surprise name that has emerged, but he is contention for the role and has spoken to Forest officials,” Bailey confirmed.

TBR Football understands Marco Silva and Brendan Rodgers, who are both out of contract at their respective clubs Fulham and Celtic at the end of the season, are also managers appreciated by the Greek magnate. Both could be long-term replacements for Ange Postecoglou.

Silva, in particular, is admired by Marinakis, and they hold a positive working relationship after a successful spell at Olympiacos.

As we previously revealed, a defeat to Chelsea was likely to cost Postecoglou his job, and the news was officially confirmed around 20 minutes after the final whistle on Saturday.
